The Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) conference: Today’s Challenge Tomorrow’s Reward (TCTR) focuses on providing educational and skill building workshops, best practices, and networking opportunities to statewide DBE firms and contractors wanting to business with IDOT. The overall goal is to help advance the firm’s skill set and knowledge in order to increase their competitiveness and opportunities for work on federally funded highway contracts.
TCTR has been held for over a decade, addresses FHWA goals, and is always well attended by subcontractors, DBEs, and Primes in construction, trucking, engineering, professional consulting, and design. Supportive Services are on site to provide both assistance to certified DBE firms during the conference. Workshops are provided covering topics such as estimating and bidding, deletion of quantities, project management, erosion control, advanced financing, social media marketing, and much more. The conference concludes with an awards luncheon recognizing outstanding firms throughout the state.
