IDOT Celebrates African-American History Month

SPRINGFIELD – Diversity in a Rapidly Changing World: From Slavery to Freedom (Tracing our Past, Facing our Present, Embracing our Future) is the theme for a month of celebrations being hosted at the Illinois Department of Transportation during African-American History Month. The events are free to the public and will be held at IDOT’s Harry Hanley Building, 2300 S. Dirksen Parkway, in Springfield.

IDOT Announces State Funding for Chicago Bridge Inspections

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced today $800,000 in state funds will be used to help the City of Chicago conduct bridge inspections throughout the city. The awarding of the funds, which will be matched by $3.2 million in federal funding, further demonstrates IDOT’s commitment to safety by assisting the city in meeting federal requirements for the timely inspections of bridges.

I-55 Managed Lane Project in Hands of General Assembly; Millions in Private Investment, Jobs, Congestion at Stake

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today the refiling of the joint resolution to advance the I-55 Managed Lane project as a possible public-private partnership (P3) that would invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Illinois infrastructure at minimal cost to taxpayers, create thousands of jobs and reduce congestion in one of the state’s critical travel corridors. In order to keep the project on track and the procurement process alive, the resolution must be passed by the General Assembly in the next few weeks.
