Featured Projects

Each year, IDOT manages hundreds of projects that positively impact the motoring public by improving travel times, decreasing congestion, enhancing safety, creating jobs and strengthening local economies.

IDOT utilizes a three-phase process for advancing projects.

Phase I engineering identifies the project purpose and need, completes environmental reviews and conducts preliminary design for the project. Phase II is the design phase which refines the design and develops plans, specifications and estimates for construction. Any land acquisition needed for a project takes place during Phase II. Phase III is the construction, and final phase of a project.

Below are some of these projects, with up-to-date information including an overview, benefits, project scope and public involvement, as well as timely news, current status and updates.
