IL 176 at Nish Road

The Illinois Department of Transportation has completed the preliminary engineering and environmental study (Phase I) for the improvement of IL 176 at Nish Road located in unincorporated Nunda Township in McHenry County. The proposed project is anticipated to consist of the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of IL 176 and Nish Road, and the realignment of Wright Road at Nish Road approximately 200 feet to the west. Riverside Drive is proposed to end in a “tee” intersection at Wright Road. The project will also include pedestrian and bicyclist accommodations and drainage improvements. The project is expected to improve traffic operations and enhance safety at the intersection. This improvement is included in the Department’s current multi-year Proposed Highway Improvement Program, utilizing funding through the federal National Highway Performance program.
