Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a critical piece of roadway safety. Medical treatment provided shortly after a severe injury crash greatly increases the chance of survivability of serious injuries. EMS includes becoming aware of a crash, responding to the incident to provide medical treatment if necessary and traffic incident management to clear the scene and prevent secondary crashes from occurring, and linking the hospital data to crash reports to ensure the data used to direct resources is the best that it can be.
