Project Summary
The project scope includes the removal and replacement of the roadway surface, minor geometric improvements to the IL 157 and IL 159 interchanges, drainage improvements, shoulder improvements, safety upgrades, and structure repairs and rehabilitations along I-270 from IL 111 to east of I-55/70 in Glen Carbon, Madison County, Illinois. The scope of structure repairs includes one full bridge replacement, two deck replacements, and minor repairs to approximately 20 additional structures. The total project length is approximately 9 miles, and the construction cost is estimated to be $220,000,000.

Project Goals
- Improve the pavement and bridge conditions by overlaying the highway and repairing existing structures to provide a long-lasting and durable corridor that minimizes future maintenance.
- Provide construction staging and maintenance of traffic that balances impacts to the traveling public while minimizing the construction duration.
- Upgrade corridor geometrics, traffic barriers and attenuation, and infrastructure to current standards.
