FAQ
What is the current scope of the study?
This study focuses on the I-55/I-64 roadway from the Mississippi River to the I-64 interchange. It includes the I-55/I-64 mainline, the I-55/I-64 collector-distributor roads, and the ramps to Illinois 3 and 13th Street/Tudor-Piggott Avenue, which is referred to as the Poplar Street Bridge Complex.
What improvements are planned?
Anticipated work includes replacing aging bridges and portions of the highway pavement. Elevated ramps at the Illinois 3 interchange, which includes seven bridges, will be addressed. Planned repairs will extend the service life of another 22 bridges and additional sections of the highway along with safety and operation improvements will be identified. The project team will also obtain feedback from stakeholders to assist with identifying improvements.
