Whiteside County: U.S. 30 in Morrison
The Illinois Department of Transportation is currently conducting a preliminary engineering and environmental study (Phase I) for the improvement of U.S. 30 in Morrison in Whiteside county. The study limits are over 2 miles.
The study involves reconstruction of the aging pavement of U.S. 30, adding turn lanes and a bi-directional turn lane to help with turning movements and congestion.
The project also includes drainage, culvert and safety improvements as needed. Pedestrian, ADA and bicycle accommodations will also be considered per IDOT’s Complete Streets policy. It will have extensive coordination with the city of Morrison, Morrison Historical Society and other project stakeholders.

The study limits include Illinois 173 beginning 0.1 miles west of Illinois 78 north to 0.2 miles east of Jackson Street in Morrison.
U.S. 30 is a primary east-west corridor through Whiteside county and the city of Morrison. The purpose of the study is to reconstruct aging pavement and drainage systems constructed in the early 1900’s and provide safe and efficient transportation for all users.
A public meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 16, from 1-6 at the Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison St., Morrison.
