The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering (BSPE) develops and implements occupant protection programs based on the evaluation of data, trends, population and high-risk areas with high crashes, injuries and fatalities. Seat belts are the best defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers. Being buckled up during a crash helps keep you safe and secure inside your vehicle; being completely ejected from a vehicle is almost always deadly. In over 60% of fatal accidents in Illinois, at least one occupant was not wearing a seat belt. Wearing your seat belt and properly buckling up your child is not just a good idea. In Illinois, it's the law.
The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering creates and distributes a wide variety of Public Information and Education (PIE) materials available to the residents of Illinois for promotion of traffic and transportation safety. These range from banners and signs to pamphlets and palm cards. These materials are offered free of charge.
Here is the BSPE 1001P: PIE Materials Order form to order items.
