SCAM ALERT:  A current text message smishing scam claims recipients owe money associated with traffic tickets, tolls, and other fines.  These are not legitimate messages from the Illinois Department of Transportation.  If you receive a message report it to the Federal Trade Commission and/or the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Efficient Project Delivery

  • IDOT received the Award of Excellence in Urban Highways- FHWA’s Excellence in Highway Design Awards Program for its outstanding work on highways, bridges, pedestrian facilities, roadside facilities, and other facets of roadway design during the reconstruction of South Lake Shore Drive. 

  • IDOT was recognized by American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials’ (AASHTO) for its organizational integration in its planning approach to Context Sensitive Solutions.

Safety

  • IDOT received an Emmy at the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the TV Academy for Best Public Service Announcement on “Cops Everywhere” series.

  • IDOT received its Telly Award for best local and regional television commercial on its “Loser” campaign.

Sustainable Practices

  • IDOT received the Governor’s Green Government Coordinating Council Award for Sustainable Transportation.
