IDOT's Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over impaired driving enforcement mobilizations take place during major holidays - times of the year, when the rise of impaired driving fatalities tend to be highest. Law enforcement agencies across Illinois step up enforcement, adding patrols and undertaking numerous public relations activities to spread the word about the dangers of impaired driving, and get impaired drivers off the road.

IDOT's top priorities include safety on the state’s roads and highways. Motorists are urged to prepare for unfavorable driving conditions during the winter season and take it slow when ice and snow are on the ground and travel is necessary.
