SCAM ALERT:  A current text message smishing scam claims recipients owe money associated with traffic tickets, tolls, and other fines.  These are not legitimate messages from the Illinois Department of Transportation.  If you receive a message report it to the Federal Trade Commission and/or the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.

2012 - Awards & Recognition

Efficient Project Delivery

  • The Mid American Regional America’s Transportation Awards (MAASTO) competition awarded IDOT the “Best Innovation” award for the Interstate 55 Reconstruction Project in Madison County.

  • IDOT received one of AASHTO's 2012 Sweet Sixteen High Value Research Project awards for "An Expert Systems Approach to Highway Construction Scheduling."

Minority Participation

  • Women in Transportation's (WTS) St. Louis chapter presented the Rosa Parks Diversity Award to IDOT for the Mississippi River Bridge project diversity effort.

Leadership

  • Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider was selected as “Woman of the Year” by the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Greater Chicago Chapter.

Safety

  • IDOT received TransComm 2012 Skill Award in the Advertising-TV Commercial category “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” ad.

  • IDOT received a first-place ribbon for its float in the Illinois State Fair parade.

Sustainable Practices

  • IDOT received Illinois Green Governments Award for efforts in designing a rain barrel design competition for enhancing energy crop production, and for producing total recycle asphalt, demonstrating environmental leadership in Illinois.

  • IDOT received one of AASHTO's 2012 Sweet Sixteen High Value Research Project awards for "An Expert Systems Approach to Highway Construction."
