The Combined Law Enforcement Hispanic Heritage Committee recognized IDOT for its outstanding community outreach in the Hispanic communities in Chicago.
Leadership
IDOT received 2011 Thomas H. MacDonald Memorial Award by the American Association of State and Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
IDOT employees donated in State & University Employees Combined Appeal Award (SECA) Donors- 2011 campaign, and IDOT was recognized by SECA for exceptional Giving- 2011.

IDOT received Outstanding Contribution Award from Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) for efforts in helping teens make the right choices.
Sustainable Practices
IDOT received an Environmental Excellence Award from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for archaeological work done on the New Mississippi River Bridge Project at St. Louis.
IDOT received the Governor’s Green Government Coordinating Council Award for its successful promotion of International Walk to School Day and 2011 Earth Day Projects such as 10,000 Trees to Illinois Schools and Illinois Schools Rain Barrel Design Contest.
