District One Construction Releases
A full road closure is scheduled to take place on 95th Street, between Dorchester and Avalon avenues from, weather permitting, Thursday, Nov. 10, to Tuesday, Nov. 22.
The closure is necessary to accommodate pavement repairs under the viaduct, between Dorchester and Avalon avenues.
During that time, a detour will direct motorists to Cottage Grove Avenue, 87th Street and Stony Island Avenue.
To accommodate the installation of a new water main, 127th Street (Illinois 83) is scheduled to be closed for two weeks in both directions, just before and after the 127th Street bridge over the Cal Sag Channel, beginning, weather permitting, Friday, Nov. 4.
During that time, a posted detour will direct traffic to Cicero Avenue (Illinois 50), 135th Street and Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43). Left turns at the intersection will continue to be prohibited.
After the work is completed, traffic will return to staged construction, with one lane in each direction and left turns prohibited at the intersection.
The project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2023.
Additional time is needed to complete the work. Northwest Highway (U.S. 14), between Nicholas Drive and Western Avenue is anticipated to reopen by mid to late-December, weather permitting. Then, daytime lane closures can be expected to complete the work.
Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained throughout construction.
The project is anticipated to be completed in spring 2023.
Dan Ryan Expressway (Interstate 90/94) ramp, to the outbound Stevenson Expressway (Interstate 55)
• The left lane of the two-lane ramp is now open to traffic.
• Repairs to the right lane are estimated to take approximately six to eight months to complete.
• Motorists can expects delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.
Weekend ramp closures on I-57
The following ramps are scheduled to be closed this weekend for pavement patching and repairs, weather permitting, starting at 9 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10.
Weekend ramp closures
• Southbound I-57 ramp to Stuenkel Road (eastbound and westbound)
o Alternate route: Sauk Trail or Monee Manhattan Road to Cicero Avenue (Illinois 50) to Stuenkel Road
• Westbound Stuenkel Road entrance ramp to northbound I-57
o Alternate route: Sauk Trail or Monee Manhattan Road to enter northbound I-57.
Temporary repairs of the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway (Interstate 90/94) ramp, to the outbound Stevenson Expressway (Interstate 55) is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, Monday, Oct. 3. The repairs will allow one (left lane) of the ramp’s two lanes to reopen to traffic. This work is anticipated to be completed by Sunday, Oct. 9.
The initial assessment of the ramp indicates that the steel beams under the right lane of the ramp has extensive damage, which will require a more in-depth inspection and comprehensive repairs. This process is initially estimated to take approximately six to eight months to complete.
A detour will direct motorists to exit I-55 (inbound), exit to Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and reenter I-55 outbound.
Motorists can expects delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, be prepared for slow and stopped traffic, and if feasible consider taking alternate routes.
Weekend ramp closures on southbound I-57
The following ramps are scheduled to be closed this weekend for pavement patching and repairs, weather permitting, starting at 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, Sept. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3.

Resurfacing on Interstate 57, weather permitting, this weekend with the following closures:
Lane closures
• I-57 (northbound), between Halsted and 127th streets.
o Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3
o At least one northbound lane will remain open at all times.
• I-57 (southbound), between Halsted and 127th streets.
o Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, to 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3
o At least one southbound lane will remain open at all times.
The northbound Interstate 57 ramp to westbound Interstate 80 is scheduled to be closed over three consecutive weekends to accommodate ramp patching and resurfacing beginning, weather permitting, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3.
During that time, a posted detour will direct traffic to continue north on I-57, exit at 167th Street (westbound) and re-enter southbound I-57 to access I-80.
To complete the work, additional weekend ramp closures are scheduled to take place, from 7 p.m. Fridays to 5 a.m. Mondays, for two additional consecutive weekends, weather permitting.

The McDonough Street (U.S. 6/52) bridge over the Des Plaines River, in Joliet, is scheduled to reopen, weather permitting, after the morning rush, Monday, Aug. 8.
Shortly after the reopening of McDonough Street, the Cass Street (U.S. 30) bridge will close to accommodate the installation of new aerial cables and a control system, along with various tender house upgrades, anticipated to reopen in late October.
A posted detour will direct traffic to Scott Street (Illinois 53), Ruby Street (Illinois 53), Broadway Street (Illinois 53), Theodore Street (Illinois 7) and Plainfield Road (U.S. 30).
An overnight full-closure is scheduled to take place on 127th Street, between Marshfield Avenue and Paulina Street, weather permitting, from 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, to 7 a.m. Thursday, July 28.
The closure is necessary to facilitate a concrete pour to repair the bridge deck
During that time, a posted detour will direct westbound 127th Street motorists to Ashland Avenue, 119th Street and Vincennes Avenue to reconnect with westbound 127th Street. Eastbound 127th Street motorists will detour via Paulina Street, Vermont Street and Ashland Avenue to reconnect.

7/8/22 UPDATE: I-55 bridge work over Kankakee River
All lanes are scheduled to reopen on I-55, between River and Lorenzo roads by, weather permitting, tomorrow evening, Saturday, July 9.
As work continues, occasional overnight lane closures will be required on I-55, between River and Lorenzo roads to complete the work.
The overall project is anticipated to be completed, weather permitting, in late July.
