Surplus Equipment
IDOT offers IDOT vehicles, equipment (25+ horsepower, self-propelled) and attachments for sale. Per 20 ILCS 2705/2705-575, once this equipment has cleared other State Agency offerings, it will be offered to Local Units of Government (LUG). LUGs as defined by Article VII of the Illinois State Constitution are “counties, municipalities, townships, special districts, and units; designated as units of local government by law, which exercise limited governmental powers or powers in respect to limited governmental subjects, but does not include school districts.”
Please read the terms and conditions (BoBS3715) attached below. LUGs will be required to sign and return the terms and conditions, acknowledging their acceptance of the terms annually or any time there is a change in the individual with signature authority on behalf of the LUG. Please also see the list of IDOT and CMS locations and contacts below. To register, please email the address listed below. When you email to register, please provide your Tax ID Number (TIN), a completed copy of the LUG bidder application form and include a scanned copy of your authorized copy of the terms and conditions. This number is a nine-digit number beginning with a 36- or 37-. If a LUG elects to participate and is the successful bidder for an item, they will be required to pay for the item with a check drawn on the LUG account. Personal checks will not be accepted for payment of any surplus items. Once an item has cleared the LUG offering, it will be offered to the general public via the auction site.
