Wood Street Study (159th Street to 138th Street)
In April 2015, the Illinois Department of Transportation (Department) completed a preliminary engineering and environmental (Phase I) study for Wood Street/Ashland Avenue from south of US 6 (159th Street) to 138th Street in the City of Harvey and Villages of Dixmoor and Riverdale in Cook County. This improvement is included in the Department’s FY 2016-2021 Proposed Highway Improvement Program as an “Illinois Jobs Now!” project. Our current engineering efforts are targeted to enable a contact letting in the middle portion of the current multi-year program contingent upon plan readiness, and acquisition and funding availability through the future annual legislative appropriations.
Note: IDOT projects typically have three distinct phases. Phase I (or the project Study) consists of developing the project scope, environmental studies and preliminary design of a project. Phase II (Design) consists of refining the design to develop contract plans and land acquisition. Phase III (Construction) consists of the actual construction of the project.
