Evaluations
IDOT focuses on evaluation and monitoring of various highway safety projects and programs through research and analyses that enhance the safety and efficiency of transportation by understanding the human factors that are important to transportation programs in Illinois.
This section of the website provides in-depth analytical reports on highway safety projects and programs including major Illinois highway safety campaigns, such as Click it or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. Visitors can find reports and presentations on the annual safety belt survey, traffic safety quick facts, and health care costs of motor vehicle related injuries. All the analytical reports were drawn from many traffic safety related data, such as crash reports, enforcement activities, population data, health care data, and annual survey data. The evaluations and data also serve as critical components to the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP), the Highway Safety Plan (HSP), and the Highway Safety Implementation Program (HSIP) as well as the Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering’s Annual Report.
