Impaired Driving Task Force
The Impaired Driving Task Force, established within the Illinois Department of Transportation, is composed of individuals from a diverse range of professions, including experts and advocates, all united by a shared commitment to reducing impaired driving and its associated injuries and crashes on Illinois roads. One of the group's primary responsibilities is to develop and maintain a dynamic Illinois Impaired Driving Strategic Plan. This plan outlines strategies and tactics that directly inform the programs included in the Illinois Highway Safety Plan.
Purpose
To save lives by the elimination of senseless motor vehicle crashes and the resultant injuries or deaths caused by impaired drivers in Illinois.
Mission
To eliminate motor vehicle crashes and resultant injuries or deaths caused by impaired drivers through collaboration of individuals, agencies and organizations who possess the expertise to:
- formulate prevention strategies;
- develop and implement improvements to Illinois laws that pertain to enforcement of highway safety, driver’s licensing, prosecution and adjudication; and
- enhance communication to the public about motor vehicle crashes and public safety.
