Illinois Route 173 from IL 59 to US 41 Study

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is initiating the Illinois Route 173 Phase I Planning and Environmental Study. This study will identify potential improvement of Illinois Route 173 from Illinois Route 59 to U.S. Route 41. The Illinois Route 173 project corridor extends over nine miles through northern Lake County, from west of Illinois 59 in Antioch, Illinois to east of U.S. 41 in Wadsworth, Illinois.  The corridor traverses a mixture of land uses, including residential, retail, agricultural and natural areas.

Considering the likelihood of considerable impacts this project may have on the community and the environment, and wide range of improvement possibilities, IDOT has designated this project to be guided under the principles of Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS).

As plans continue, please check back for updates.
