Overview and Scope
Proposed improvements involve roadway reconstruction on I-57 and U.S. 45/52 with drainage, intersection and safety improvements as needed. Alignment changes are proposed along U.S. 45/52 in addition to replacing the bridge carrying the road over I-57. Temporary closure of some local streets, entrances and ramps during construction will be necessary.
Acquisition of additional right of way will be required. An analysis of potential highway traffic noise impacts will be performed during the study in accordance with department policy.
The study is anticipated to be completed in 2022. Phase II (design) engineering, land acquisition and construction is currently funded in the Fiscal Year 2022-2027 Proposed Highway Improvement Program and would begin after approval of the Phase I project study, subject to funding availability.
