CAG Meeting History
Between 2014 and 2015, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) worked with the CAG to identify the project’s Purpose and Need, review the existing roadway deficiencies, review the natural resources along the project corridor and collaborate to identify conceptual alternatives. IDOT also met with local agencies to determine multi-use path limits, coordinated with railroads regarding the ability to reconstruct existing structures, and coordinating with property owners about access changes.
As of January 2019, IDOT continued work to collect environmental resource data and fine tune the geometry based on the resource findings and local agency coordination. The corridor is environmentally rich with eagles, migrating pelicans, wooded areas, effigy mounds, wetlands, and floodplain, to name a few resources. Public Meeting Held on November 17, 2022
IDOT hosted the second Phase 1 Public Meeting on November 17, 2022. The meeting was held virtually. The purpose of the meeting was to share the status of the project study, present the preferred alternative and answer questions/obtain public input. IDOT provided information regarding:

Attendees had the opportunity to provide comments at the meeting, through the project website, via email and at the City of Byron Public Library where paper copies of the public meeting presentation, detailed plans and comment forms were available to the public.
