U.S. 6 Study from Ashton Road to Illinois 47 in Morris

US Route 6

The Illinois Department of Transportation has completed the Phase I Engineering and Environmental Study and is beginning preparation of Plans and Specifications (Phase II) to improve U.S. Route 6 in the city of Morris. The project limits include U.S. Route 6 (Bedford Road) beginning west of Ashton Road and extending east to Illinois 47 (Division Street), over 2 miles. Funding for this improvement is included in IDOT’s Proposed Highway Improvement Program Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-2031.

The study involves the reconstruction of U.S. Route 6 to provide the appropriate number of lanes to accommodate anticipated traffic. The project also includes drainage and safety improvements as needed. Pedestrian, ADA and bicycle accommodations will also be considered per IDOT’s Complete Streets policy.

Public Meeting

A public meeting was held on December 4, 2024 from 5-7:30 PM at the Morris Grade School.
