Henry County - IL 84 Colona

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has undertaken a study of Illinois Route 84 through the city of Colona from the Rock River to 0.2 miles north of U.S. 6. This study will examine the transportation needs to serve both the local community and the region. The project proposes to reconstruct Illinois 84 just west of Seventh Street to the BNSF tracks with patching and resurfacing west of Seventh Street and south of the BNSF tracks. This project also proposes signalizing the intersection of Illinois 84 and Cleveland Road. The study includes a public involvement process with opportunities for stakeholder input and feedback. Construction is currently unfunded.

This project involves a study to reconstruct Illinois 84 through Colona. The existing pavement is approaching the end of its service life and no longer meets the transportation needs of the local community and the region. This project proposed to address these deficiencies by reconstructing Illinois 84 with a bi-direction left turn lane from Fifth Avenue to Seventh Street, constructing a sidewalk and a multi-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians, and improving drainage with a storm sewer system. To address traffic backups at Cleveland Road, this intersection will be signalized and the left turn lane will be lengthened.
