Interstate 64 under Illinois 111

Project Description
The Illinois Department of Transportation has initiated a preliminary engineering and environmental study for replacement of the bridge that carries Illinois 111 over Interstate 64 in Washington Park to provide more clearance above I-64. The existing clearance is less than current requirements for an interstate. To provide the additional clearance, the interchange ramps may need to be reconstructed, and the new interchange may be a different configuration.

Note: IDOT projects typically have three distinct phases. Phase I (or the project Study) consists of developing the project scope, environmental studies and preliminary design of a project. Phase II (Design) consists of refining the design to develop contract plans and land acquisition. Phase III (Construction) consists of the actual construction of the project.
