SCAM ALERT:  A current text message smishing scam claims recipients owe money associated with traffic tickets, tolls, and other fines.  These are not legitimate messages from the Illinois Department of Transportation.  If you receive a message report it to the Federal Trade Commission and/or the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Public Involvement

The public involvement process provides for free and open discussions with individuals, organizations, agencies, and other interested parties to encourage early resolution of controversial and non-controversial issues related to the project. The process also ensures that potential adverse economic, social, and environmental effects are fully considered in project development. This should result in final decisions that reflect the best overall public interest in providing a safe, economic, and efficient transportation system with minimal adverse effects.

Stakeholder Involvement

The goal of the Stakeholder Involvement is to outline a program of activities to actively engage stakeholders throughout the Phase I process. The objectives of the Stakeholder Involement are to:

  • Identify stakeholders
  • Provide an approach for evaluating the effectiveness of the public-participation program and refine, as appropriate, to respond to public needs and concerns

Public Informational Meetings

IDOT will be conducting a Public Informational Open House to encourage input from the public regarding the proposed improvements to Illinois 173. Comment forms will be available at the public meeting and on the project website. The public informational meeting will be held in person.
