IL-47 Improvement Study (Yorkville to Sugar Grove)
The Illinois Department of Transportation has completed a study for the improvement of IL Route 47 from Kennedy Road in Yorkville, to Cross Street in Sugar Grove. The purpose of the study is to identify roadway improvements that will accommodate projected increases in traffic in this rapidly growing area.
The initial phase of the design (Phase I) has been completed for the project. Phase II detailed design will be performed independently for the northern and southern sections of the project. Design of the section from Kennedy Road to Galena Road will be handled by IDOT's District 3 office in Ottawa and Design of the section from Galena Road to Cross Street will be handled by the District 1 office in Schaumburg. No additional public involvement activities are anticipated for this project. If it is necessary to provide additional information it may be posted here but regular updates are not anticipated. If the Department will be purchasing property from a parcel, the owner or owners will be contacted to provide input and provided additional information as part of the land acquisition process.
Update (10/9/2018)
Updated exhibits are posted under the Resource tab to show the more major changes that were made based on public hearing comments. Please note that these exhibits don't show all changes and particularly don't show those that focus on one specific property.
Note: IDOT projects typically have three distinct phases. Phase I (or the project Study) consists of developing the project scope, environmental studies and preliminary design of a project. Phase II (Design) consists of refining the design to develop contract plans and land acquisition. Phase III (Construction) consists of the actual construction of the project.
