Elgin O'Hare West Access
The Elgin O’Hare Western Access project (EOWA) is regionally and nationally significant. The project will improve access to a major job center, surrounding communities, and O’Hare Airport. IDOT and FHWA began the Elgin O’Hare – West Bypass (EOWB) project in 2007 to study transportation issues in a 127-square mile project area west of O’Hare Airport. IDOT has completed the preliminary engineering and environmental studies (Phase I) for the project. The project has advanced to final design (Phase II) and construction (Phase III) as an Illinois Tollway project. Further information about the ongoing implementation of the project can be found on the Tollway’s website: Elgin O'Hare Western Access (EOWA) Project
