SCAM ALERT:  A current text message smishing scam claims recipients owe money associated with traffic tickets, tolls, and other fines.  These are not legitimate messages from the Illinois Department of Transportation.  If you receive a message report it to the Federal Trade Commission and/or the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Past Meeting Summaries

A public meeting was held on January 6, 2011 to introduce the project to the community and seek members for the Advisory Group.

The Community Advisory Group (CAG) held their first meeting on August 24, 2011 and reviewed five alternatives.  Alternatives are shown on the Details tab.  These alternatives were later renumbered as follows:

  • Alternative 1 (No Build)
  • Alternative 2 (Grade Raise with Temporary Roadway Runaround)
  • Alternative 3 (Grade Raise with Temporary Railroad Runaround)
  • Alternative 7A (Horizontal Realignment with At-Grade Railroad Crossing on US 136)
  • Alternative 8 (Horizontal Realignment with Bridge over Warsaw Road)

The CAG met for the second time on May 8, 2013.  Based on comments from the CAG at their first meeting, the following expanded alternatives were discussed:

  • Alternative 1 (No Build)
  • Alternative 2 (Grade Raise with Temporary Roadway Runaround)
  • Alternative 3 (Grade Raise with Temporary Railroad Runaround)
  • Alternative 4 (Grade Raise with Mississippi Railroad Bridge Removal)
  • Alternative 5 (Grade Raise with Railroad Rerouting)
  • Alternative 6 (Grade Raise with Channel Realignment)
  • Alternative 7A (Horizontal Realignment with At-Grade Railroad Crossing on US 136)
  • Alternative 7B (Horizontal Realignment with At-Grade Railroad Crossing on US 136 and Warsaw Road)
  • Alternative 8 (Horizontal Realignment with Bridge over Warsaw Road)
  • Alternative 9 (Horizontal Realignment South with Channel Realignment)
  • Alternative 10 (Horizontal Realignment North)

At the 2nd CAG meeting, the CAG selected three preferred alternatives:

  • Alternative 7A (Horizontal Realignment with At-Grade Railroad Crossing on US 136)
  • Alternative 7B (Horizontal Realignment with At-Grade Railroad Crossing on US 136 and Warsaw Road)
  • Alternative 9 (Horizontal Realignment South with Channel Realignment)

In addition, two additional alternatives were added into consideration based on comments at the 2nd CAG meeting:

  • Alternative 7C (Alt 7B Adjusted to Avoid Asphalt Plant)
  • Alternative 9B (Alt 9 with Longer Channel Realignment)
