MacArthur Boulevard continues to play a vital role in the City of Springfield’s economic development and transportation network. Therefore, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is moving forward with the preliminary planning phases to improve this thoroughfare from Wabash/Stanford Avenue to South Grand Avenue.

Note: Development of projects typically have three distinct phases. Phase I (or the project Planning Study) consists of developing the project scope, environmental studies and preliminary design of a project. Phase II (Design) consists of refining the design to develop contract plans and land acquisition. Phase III (Construction) consists of the actual construction of the project. The Feasibility Study discussed here took place before Phase I and concluded in October 2017.
