PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE
IDOT HOSTED A PUBLIC MEETING FOR THIS PROJECT
AUGUST 9, 2022, 4 – 7 p.m.

An online version of the meeting is available. View the proposed interchange concept and receive information about the progress and issues concerning this project. Due to the project’s location at the former sites of the Douglas-Lawnridge and St. Clair County cemeteries, IDOT would welcome input from the community, families and loved ones of those interred in these cemeteries.

Project Description
The Illinois Department of Transportation has initiated a preliminary engineering and environmental study for replacement of the bridge that carries Illinois 111 over Interstate 64 in Washington Park to provide more clearance above I-64. The existing clearance is less than current requirements for an interstate. To provide the additional clearance, the interchange ramps may need to be reconstructed, and the new interchange may be a different configuration.

Note: IDOT projects typically have three distinct phases. Phase I (or the project Study) consists of developing the project scope, environmental studies and preliminary design of a project. Phase II (Design) consists of refining the design to develop contract plans and land acquisition. Phase III (Construction) consists of the actual construction of the project.
