Study
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is preparing a Categorical Exclusion Type II (CE II) of possible improvements to the Interstate 55 (I-55) interchange at Weber Road. The project study limits extend along Weber Road from 119th Street north of the interchange to 135th Street to the south and 1/2 mile east and west of Weber Road along I-55. This study has been identified as a Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) project.
This web site will provide information on the progress of the project, relevant project-related materials and details about upcoming public meetings and opportunities to participate.
Project Updates
A Public Hearing was held on Wednesday November 13, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Romeoville Village Hall. The intention of the hearing was to present the Purpose and Need for improvements, the Preferred Improvements Plan, and to seek public comment. Public is encouraged to provide comments on the recommended preferred improvement. Written public comments can be submitted through this mailed to IDOT using a comment form. CAG Meeting #7 (June 2012)
The seventh CAG meeting was held at the Romeoville Village Hall to update the public on the project status, present the results of the alternative evaluation process, present and gather input on the preliminary preferred alternative, and to explain the next steps in the project process. CAG Meeting #6 (August 2011)
The sixth CAG meeting was held on August 31, 2011 at the Romeoville Village Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to review the alternatives evaluation process and discuss the 21 potential project alternatives. The project team described the “fatal flaw” screening process (environmental and community issues) and solicited the CAG’s input on various stages of screening and evaluation of the alternatives. Public Meeting #2 (May 12, 2011)
A public meeting was held at Romeoville Village Hall to update the public on the project status, present the project problem statement, present the purpose and need, review the Initial range of alternative, introduce the alternative evaluation process and screening criteria, and to explain next steps in the project process. Comments and new ideas provided by the attendees were collected by the project team. An agenda and additional documents from this meeting can be found in the Resources tab.
CAG Meeting #5 (April 2011)
The fifth CAG meeting was held to review and obtain comments on the presentation and displays for Public Meeting #2 on April 26th, 2011 at the Romeoville Village Hall. An agenda and additional documents from this meeting can be found on the Resources tab.
